Relocating to the Raleigh, NC area, and need help?

Parks & Playgrounds in Raleigh, NC

There are so many things I love about living in the Raleigh/Triangle area, one of which that stands out far above the rest -- in my opinion -- is the variety of outdoor, family-friendly, and free public parks, playgrounds, and green trails that wrap around the Raleigh, Cary, Durham, and Chapel Hill neighborhoods. Here are a few of my absolute favorite parks in Raleigh, NC!

  • Pullen Park: lots of creative playgrounds for kids of all ages, amusement rides, picnic area, boating, walking trails, and a small café; for quick bites and popsicles.
  • Umstead Park: this is a fairly large park crossing city boundaries between Raleigh, Durham, and Cary with lots of nature trails, picnic areas, and beautiful lake views. A great spot for family photo sessions!
  • Duke Gardens: beautifully landscaped with a variety of plant species, flowers, birds, butterflies, and plenty of globally-themed garden parks. There's an endless stretch of green lawn to play frisbees on and a small amphitheater for local spring and summer events.
  • Laurel Hills Park: this kid-friendly playground has a mix of activities for babies up to young readers, making it a regular stop for many North Raleigh families on the weekends. There are lots of birthday celebrations (there are picnic tables for events), playdates, and picnic possibilities for you and your family!
